Welcome!
Island Grown Initiative is a grassroots not-for-profit working to support local food and farming on Martha’s Vineyard.
IGI raises consumer awareness about the importance of locally-grown food and works to (re)create the necessary infrastructure that supports farming.
Our three programs: the Pastured Poultry Program which includes mobile poultry processing, Island Grown Schools (farm to school programming) and Island Grown Ethnic – our latest collaboration with Umass Amherst’s Ethnic Crops program – help to support the local year-round community on the Vineyard, the island's twenty-eight small family farms and countless backyard growers.
For directions and information about island farms – check out IGI’s farm map. And to see and hear more about the IGI in the news– go to the Vineyard Voice, a community publishing website for Martha’s Vineyard.
